Half bound in leather, decorative embossed animal design to front panel. No dust jacket as issued. Copy #29 from a limited edition of 450, signed by Reilly and designer Allan Zukor. Color photo illustrations throughout. Housed in large, heavy, felt-lined custom 10” x 13” clamshell box. A history and overview of highlights from the James S. Copley collection including books, portraits, manuscripts, and letters relating to early American History, the Revolutionary War, the first three US presidents, California and the Old West, Music, Science, Medicine, and Mark Twain. Copley died in 1973 at the age of 57. Eventually encompassing nine thousand books and 1300 letters, the collection was sold at auction in 2010 and dispersed.
