Artaud, Antonin & Hirschman, Jack, 17 Poems by Antonin Artaud Translated from the French, San Francisco: Sore Dove Press 2013, English, nineteen loose 8 ½” x 11” pages + original painting in Near Fine custom leather 4to clamshell box, 10 ¼” x 12 ½”, signed & numbered limited edition.
Custom clamshell box in brown leather, title stamped to front panel, interior finished in beige woven cloth w/ publisher name stamped to inside front pastedown. Very minor dings to front panel & edges. Nineteen loose printed pages on varying colors of cardstock plus an original abstract painting by Hirschman w/ bound-in ribbon to lift out pages. Signed & numbered #15 of 15 w/ additional signed personal dedication on title page. Designed & published by Soheyl Dahi at Sore Dove Press in August 2013. Hirschman's translations into English of 17 poems by the legendary French tragic genius, many w/ sexual themes. An informational page notes that 3 poems were previously published w/ the remaining 14 freshly rendered in 2013. Jack Hirschman (1933-2021) was a prolific radical poet, translator, & activist based in the North Beach neighborhood of San Francisco.
