Full text in English, preceded and followed by approximately thirty pages of introduction, commentary, and explanatory notes by literary critic Dmitry Urnov in Russian placing the work in context for the Russian reader. Profusely illustrated throughout with lively modern line drawings in black and white with red accents by Evgenii Shukaev, a cartoonist noted for his work on the Soviet satirical magazine ‘Krokodil’. This beautiful and unique illustrated edition has never been reprinted and is scarce in the trade.
