Very Good quarto, SIGNED and inscribed ("Inscribed for Capt. C. Wright by Geoffrey C. Ingleton"), orange paper over boards, cloth over spine, decorative illustrations and illustrations of punishments and hanging, orange and black lettering to front, light brown spine with gilt lettering, full-color frontispiece of A Poster for the Aborigines of Van Diemen’s Land, 1828, affixed from one side to page across the full title page, frontispiece depicts hangings and killings of aboriginal Australians, rubbing to bottom edge, rubbed and chipped tips, soiling to back panel, small sticker ghost to front panel, toning to front free endpaper, otherwise clean interior, tight binding. Text in English, replete with black-and-white illustrations, headpieces, and tailpieces, a collection of Broadsides from 1785-1855 that announced shipwrecks, proclamations, remarkable events and phenomena, murder trials, executions and anything that was newsworthy. Broadsides were the modern-day newspapers that were printed on one side and displayed like posters.
