This beautifully designed book by American contemporary artist and director, Matthew Barney, who is also known for his former relationship with Icelandic singer, Björk, explores his five-part film that follows a main theme of sexuality, considering the conceptual departure point of the male cremaster muscle. It includes a section dedicated to each of the five parts, which provides detailed key information on the content, production, and Barney's overall thought process. The film includes a diverse range of topics in that he was highly inspired by, such as ancient mythology, spiritualities, various medical fields, and Hollywood movies. Published in conjunction with the traveling exhibition of the same name starting at the Museum Ludwig in Cologne from June 6 to September 1, 2002. The exhibition was sponsored by the German designer fashion company Hugo Boss.
