Book is very good in gray sueded paper over boards, stamped in silver gilt to front and back covers and spine, bumped at bottom fore edge tip affecting bottom of test block, minor shelf wear scuffs to covers, else clean, tightly bound and unmarked throughout. 272 pp. replete with full-color and black-and-white images of the artwork of all 107 artists included in the exhibition. Published in conjunction with the 2004 Biennial Exhibition at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York March 11 to May 2004. Includes a Foreword by Maxwell L. Anderson, a Preface by Adam D. Weinberg, an Introduction by curators Iles, Momin, and Singer, fifteen separate essays, a list of Artists in the Exhibition, A list of Works in the Exhibition, and Photographic Credits. The names of each of the artists in the exhibition are here featured beside images of their work and short biographic essays with critical analyses of their work. Presents a thorough examination of the art and artists garnering national and international attention in 2004. Accompanying box is very good in gray paper over boards with removable lid, gilt stamped to top and left edge (spine) of lid, sunned, minor scuffing and shelfwear to edges, otherwise rigid, intact, and clean. Box contains loose artist ephemera and includes an alphabetized list of 107 participating artists. Ephemera includes zines, stickers, prints, photos, fold-out posters, booklets, and film negatives. Names of participating artists include Marina Abramovic, Cecily Brown, Sam Durant, Jim Hodges, Isaac Julien, Paul McCarthy, and many, many others.
