Notes: Very Good RARE 12mo 7 1/4" x 5 1/4" pictorial staplebound art exhibit catalog featuring Jiri Kolar's artwork "Self Portrait" to front, no image to back, black lettering to front, minor foxing to back panel and edge, notable sunning and staining to back, slight bend to top corner, otherwise sharp tips, tightly bound, and unmarked throughout. Unpaginated, illustrated with four black-and-white images, essay by literary critic, Jindrich Chalupecky, poems titled "The Destiny of the Poem" and "Rollage" by Jiri Kolar, and chronology. Published in conjunction with the exhibition of Chiasmagen, Collages, Objects, Muchlage, Photo Screen, Rollages from 1966 to 1969 by artist Jiri Kolar at the Willard Gallery in New York from December 2, 1969 to January 3, 1970. From the essay: "[Jiri Kolar] was then a timid, ineloquent boy, as timid and ineloquent as his poetry-- at first sight, consisting of fragments of phrases, and a disarray of words, but in fact, at a closer look, revealing delicate, lyrical constructions made out of precious matter: a language unspoiled by literature, a language still anonymous, the admirable language of ordinary people."
