Very good wraparound pictorial wraps featuring one of Yves Tanguy's black and white line drawings to the covers and spine with a smaller full-color image of one of Yves Tanguy's paintings inside it. Edges sunned and toned, front hinge noticeably scuffed , edges bumped, top edge foxed, interior pages age toned at the edges, but text block is tightly bound, intact, clean, and otherwise unmarked throughout. FRENCH LANGUAGE. 239 pp. replete with black-and-white and full-color images of the drawing, painting, and sculptural work of surrealist Yves Tanguy, as well as reproductions of newspaper articles, covers of manifestos and publications of the surrealists, candid photographs of Tanguy and his circle including a photo of the surrealists sitting together in 1930 which includes Tzara, Breton, Dali, Ernst, Man Ray, Eluard, Arp, Tanguy, and Crevel. Also includes an illustrated biography, essays by Andre Breton, Tanguy, Jean Maurel, Roland Penrose, Robert Lebel, and Jose Pierre, a list of exhibitions, and a bibliography. Produced in conjunction with an exhibition of Yves Tanguy's work held at Staatliche-Kunsthalle Baden-Baden from 17 October 1982 to January 1983 concurrently with an exhibition at Centre Georges Pompidou at Musee national d'art moderne 17 June to September 1982.
