The show featured the recent work of Zhang Xiaogang (b. 1958), a Chinese Surrealist painter and sculptor. He is perhaps best-known for his portraits of people, such as those in his famous _Bloodlines_ series, that feature monochromatic hues, stylized flatness of form, and stoic expressions evoking vintage family photographs of the 1950s and 1960s. Many of Zhang's artworks are centered upon the concept of family and the impacts of China's Cultural Revolution on society. Text by Jonathan Fineberg.
